I want to be your state representative so I can—

Enact Comprehensive Health Care Reform:

As I knock on thousands of doors and listen to people’s struggles to access quality, affordable health care, I have become even more passionate about ensuring that Wisconsin residents are able to have access to the same quality health care that legislators enjoy. Health security is not only in the interest of reducing health care costs, but also in shaping a productive workforce and thriving communities.

As the wife of a medical professional, I hear every day about the obstacles that our health care system faces.  It is time to address these challenges now through comprehensive health care reform.

Create Opportunity through Education:

Public education is the backbone of successful, productive communities.  I have a proven track record of making tough decisions in the interests of children, families, and the community. Despite difficult economic times during my years on the Altoona Board of Education, my colleagues and I worked to find creative solutions that enriched education while being mindful of the property tax burden.  Our community chose to strengthen and invest in public education rather than eliminate opportunities for our students, and as a result, the Altoona School District is growing and thriving.
An educated and well-trained workforce attracts new business.  In Wisconsin we are fortunate to enjoy world class university and technical college systems but it has become increasingly difficult for lower income students to gain access.   I will fight to increase access to higher education by expanding financial aid and resources to students who need it most.

Restore Equitable Taxes:

It is the government's job to ensure fair and equitable taxes.  However, there is a tax gap in Wisconsin that leaves the state short of revenue and forces families and hometown businesses to shoulder the load.   I am committed to working towards modernization of our outdated tax system to make Wisconsin globally competitive and prosperous.

Protect Our Environment:

My husband and I chose to live in the Chippewa Valley because we fell in love with the rivers, lakes, and forests that surround us.  I am committed to faithful stewardship of these natural resources so that the generations that follow us will enjoy clean water, air, and land, and all the recreational opportunities that we now enjoy.

Wisconsin’s natural treasures are a part of our economy.  They provide jobs and enjoyment in hunting, fishing, ATV and snowmobile trails, and the many hotels, restaurants, sporting goods shops.  Businesses and the environment are natural partners when we practice good stewardship.  Our state depends on revenue from tourism and from sportsmen and women.

Ensure Honest Government:

Government credibility is in question and action must be taken to ensure clean government and fair elections.  Wealthy special interests should not dominate the interests of working families and hometown business, only to be awarded with tax loopholes and political favors.  Integrity can be restored through meaningful legislative action.

Renew Enthusiasm for Change:

Too often politics is seen as a stale, boring, good ol’ boys club where average people can’t make a difference.  As your next state representative I will work with groups that have traditionally been under-represented to encourage democracy by the people, of the people and for the people.
